Valero Texas Collegiate: Tournament Recap
The Valero Texas Collegiate golf tournament kicked off Saturday, September 21 with a three-day tournament which concluded on Monday, September 23, 2024. The tournament held at TPC San Antonio featured some of the finest college golfers in the country as well as some storied golf programs in the NCAA.
The University of Texas at San Antonio served as the tournament host and competed with teams that include the current top-ranked universities Auburn University, Clemson University, East Tennessee State, University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University, University of Oklahoma, SMU, University of North Florida, University of Mississippi, Texas Christian University, University of Tennessee, University of Virginia, and Vanderbilt University.
The final round resulted in a two-man sudden death playoff, where both played hole 18 again resulting in Virginia’s Ben James winning the Valero Texas Collegiate and earning an exemption into the 2025 Valero Texas Open, to be contested April 3-6. Ben James is No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
